The distribution from the lord is once a month. It is the day when several officials come to the village with a wagon. The rations include several types of vegetables, dried meat, tools, and clothing.
All the vegetables distributed are uneven, and they are all hesitant to sell. The shape is small or distorted. I think that’s why the cost is kept down.
I think it will benefit the farmers and the company. Because the lord buys the products that can’t be sold due to irregular shapes. The lord is smart, isn’t he, because he can keep costs down and at the same time contribute to the sales of the farmers and the firm.
Even the tools and clothing are worn out. Probably, but it seems that they buy cheaply as second-hand goods from the residents and use them as rations. There is no such thing as inferior goods, and most of them have noticeable scratches. I’m grateful that I can get something like that.
Thanks to the lord, this refugee settlement seems to have survived, and I’m really glad that the lord is a good person. I have never heard anything bad about the lord in the village.
“The distribution has arrived.”
“Open the way”
“Spread more. You can’t put a wagon.”
A large crowd had gathered in the usual square. The man took the initiative to organize the people, and in no time, a space was created in one-third of the square.
Then I heard the sound of a wagon approaching in the distance. I will come to the front and look at the scene.
I saw two wagons coming down the narrow road. Each has a driver and an officer on board, with a large cloth covering the rations behind them.
When the wagon stopped in the square space, two officials got down from the coachman’s stand. The official turns to us after discussing something.
“We are officials who have delivered the rations by order of Count Lubec. We have made the people of the refugee villages have a hard life, but Count Lubek will not abandon you. This month’s rations. It’s a gift, take it with care.”
When the official shouted out his usual speech, the refugees who were there began to deeply bow their heads and express their gratitude. I also bow my head and express my gratitude.
“thank you”
I really appreciate your rations, Earl-sama. When you give thanks from the bottom of your heart, you naturally bow your head.
When each of them showed their gratitude, the official who saw it looked around and nodded strongly as if he understood.
“Let’s convey your gratitude to the Earl. Now, please accept the rations.”
“Everyone, lend me your hand.”
“I will take the wagon and remove the cloth.”
“Somebody, please open the warehouse.”
“Okay, leave it to me.”
When the officials finished speaking, the refugees started moving all at once. He used to look like he had no ambition, but when he was in front of the rations, he became a different person. It’s like being able to live thanks to rations, so I know you’re motivated. I am the same.
People are divided into those who ride on top of the wagon and those who wait under the wagon. I am of course the group waiting below. When I was waiting in line, the person in front of me received the vegetables from the wagon and walked towards the warehouse. It’s my turn next.
“Don’t drop it”
“yes”
After saying that, they slowly handed over the vegetables. The vegetable I was entrusted with was a carrot, so I had to be careful not to drop it and break it. I walk carefully and aim for the warehouse while paying attention to my surroundings.
When I arrived at the warehouse, there were people there as well.
“please”
“Ahh”
After exchanging short words, the vegetables are politely handed over. This moment makes me a little nervous. I can’t do this, I’m heading to the wagon again before I’m stuck behind.
Not all refugees, but everyone cooperates to unload. No one drops a ration. Even though it was just unloading, there was a little sense of urgency. When I finished unloading, I wasn’t physically tired, but I still had the strange feeling of being mentally exhausted.
Once the rations have been unloaded, there is no dissolution. Refugees gather in front of two officials. When the refugees here turn to the officials, the officials open their mouths.
“Everyone had a hard time. Now, let’s talk about migration.”
The story of immigration mediation began. I am very grateful to you for taking such good care of me and recommending me to move here. I wonder if anyone will leave this village this time.
“The destination is Yeoreum Village, which is located southeast of here. Yeoreum Village is a farming village that grows various vegetables, and this time we are looking for farmers.”
“The reason for the recruitment is that young people are leaving the farming village and the number of residents is decreasing. There is a lot of fallow land and the tax revenue of the village is not good, so we decided to deal with it immediately.”
“Is there anyone here who wishes to emigrate?”
When the officials finished speaking, the refugees began to chatter. Well, there’s nothing I can do about it, so I can only watch.
Hmm, those people seem to be having a serious conversation. When I stared at the people, one man raised his hand.
“Can I ask a question?”
“what”
“Is it okay to accept a few groups?”
“That much is unacceptable, but it is possible.”
After finishing such a story, the refugees talked a little and then everyone nodded strongly.
“Then, the 3 groups here, 13 people, will go to Yeoreum Village.”
At those words, the other refugees roared. This is because it is very rare for three groups to come forward in a rare farming village.
It is very difficult for a new farmer to live in a farming village, cultivate the land together with the existing residents, and grow vegetables by imitating what they see and see. However, knowing the risk, the three groups raised their hands. If there’s a reason, it’s because if you have fellow refugees, you can help them when they’re in trouble. I see, there is another way to do that.
“Is there anyone else who wants to emigrate? ……It doesn’t seem like there are any.
“Well, today is the end. Stay healthy until the day you come again.”
The officials bowed their heads in gratitude as the officials closed their greetings. Of course, I also deeply bow my head and show my gratitude.
Even though so many people are here, my parents don’t show up. From what I hear from the women, it seems like it’s about to get really dangerous. Something might happen to my parents soon. I will do what I can to protect myself.
“Sry for the long not updating, just been sick for a entire week and just recover, so its time to update everydays(if i not forget of course XD)”
