15.Rabbit capture and first time purchase

Two brown ears stick out in the grass. Its ears were busy, alert to its surroundings.

When I get as close as possible, I hold the stone in one hand. I threw the stone I was holding with all my might. The stone should have flown toward the rabbit hiding in the grass, but it didn’t hit. After the flying stone made a rustling sound, a rabbit popped out of the grass.

It’s completely unharmed. I tried to stun him with a stone, but it didn’t seem to work. I had no choice but to throw a stone ax at the rabbit. The stone axe flies while rotating and pierces the ground one step before the rabbit.

Then the rabbit was surprised and ran away.

“Wait!”

I quickly ran to retrieve the stone axe and chased after the rabbit. The rabbit runs like weaving through the gaps in the trees and goes further and further. If you run hard not to let go, the rabbit disappears at a certain place.

When I arrived at the spot in a hurry, there was a hole there.

“Hahaha, I escaped into a hole.”

Take a deep breath and stare at the hole. I want to somehow catch a rabbit in a hole. Rabbits can’t be baited as easily as hole rats, so that method won’t work. So I have to find another way to get the rabbit out of the hole.

Hmm, what should I do? Think about it while crouching down. Hole, hole… hmm? Maybe this hole isn’t that big. Then my body might enter.

Get closer and measure the size of the hole. Yes, it’s big enough for my body. Then I should go into the hole and take the rabbit out. It will get dirty with soil, but if you wash it, it won’t be a problem.

Immediately, I lay face down on the ground and started crawling forward toward the depths of the hole. Move his arms and kick the ground with his feet. Carefully proceed to the back so that the head does not collapse on the ceiling.

When I entered the hole up to my waist, I saw something like a ball of fur in the back, it was a rabbit. If you reach out your hand, the rabbit will act violently, but since there is no space for the rabbit to escape, it will not escape.

I managed to grab the rampaging leg, and this time I stepped back so as not to let go of the leg I grabbed. I crawl out of the hole carefully without letting go of my hand, and immediately hold the stone ax in my hand. Then he swung the stone ax down at the rabbit’s head.

“Kyu”

With a meow, the rabbit stiffens and convulses. When I gave it another blow there, this time my body convulsed and I couldn’t move.

I immediately tear off the ivy that was hanging from the tree and wrap it around the rabbit’s leg and tie it. After tying his legs together, I was finally able to catch my breath.

“Phew, finally one bird.”

Catching a rabbit is quite difficult. But I want to keep the cave rats for the village, so I wonder if I should capture the rabbits and sell them. Or maybe it’s better to think of a different way to capture it.

I carry the rabbit on my back and walk through the forest looking for the rabbit again.

After that, I found a rabbit. This time, when I threw a stone ax, it hit the rabbit and I was able to capture it. It’s probably a fluke. I couldn’t believe it either, and I couldn’t move for a while.

After catching two rabbits, I take the herbs I picked yesterday and walk to an old lady who runs a business outside of town. I could see the city walls. Well, I wonder if Grandma is here today.

Oh, I was there. I was sitting where I was last time.

“Hello”

When you say hello, he looks up and looks at you.

“Ah, yes yes. Hello. You came quickly. Now sit down.”

I sat in front of the shop following the guidance of the old lady. She then lowers the rabbit she was carrying and the ivy basket she is carrying over her shoulders. Today is my first purchase, don’t be nervous.

“Um, please buy it.”

“Come on, let me see. Hey, this is a big rabbit and herbs. Hold on a second, I’m going to measure the length of the rabbit.”

Holding out two rabbits, the old woman laid them out straight on the ground. She took out a piece of string from the bag next to her, stretched it out and applied it to the rabbit’s body.

“This one is bigger than normal, let’s make it 280 ruta. This one is bigger than normal, but it’s not enough. It’s going to be 260 ruta. Do you know how much it will cost in total?”

“Umm, 540 Ruta, huh?”

“Correct. Even though you’re a child of a refugee, you can do math. Some people can’t do it at all, so I’m relieved that you’ll be fine.”

Oops, I just calculated normally because I have memories of my previous life. I’m glad I didn’t seem strange, maybe I should be more careful from now on. But I have to do a lot of work from now on, so it’s better to have a lot of things I can do.

This time it’s medicinal herbs. The one I collected yesterday is also included, but I wonder if it’s okay. I think it’s okay because it’s not sluggish, but it doesn’t matter if it’s not picked on the day.

“Next is the medicinal herbs. Umm, 4 gitaru herbs and 3 attai herbs. Then, please do the math.”

“Um, one gitaru grass is 90 rta, so a total of 360 rta. One attai grass is 80 rta, so a total of 240 rta. A total of 600 rta, is that correct?”

“…Yeah, it looks okay. That’s right, you calculated well. Great.”

Oh, good, it looks like we got along. It’s a little ticklish to be praised. But I’m happy.

“It will be 1140 ruta in total. Now, how much do you think each coin is worth?”

“… 1 silver coin, 1 small silver coin, and 4 copper coins?”

“That’s right, you clearly remembered what we talked about yesterday. If you can calculate this much and understand the value of money, you should be fine to enter the town.”

When I answered the grandmother’s problem, she nodded with a satisfied look on her face. She was good, make no mistake. Yes, how you count money matters. It was really nice to have my grandmother teach me.

The old woman takes out a coin from her bag and holds it out. I took it with both hands and stared intently at the coin in my palm. This is the first money I’ve earned, and I’m happy to receive it myself.

“As an added bonus, I’ll give you this bag. If you put your coins in it, it will be easier to manage. Hide it well so that it won’t be lost or stolen.”

After saying that, the old lady took out a bag from her bag and handed it to me. The 30 cm bag has a squeeze opening, and the opening of the bag closes when a string is pulled.

“Is it okay to have such a good thing?”

“For better or for worse, you don’t have these things. I hear that refugees are given only the bare necessities, so these things are in short supply, aren’t they?”

“Yes. Thank you very much.”

Yay, I got a bag to put my coins in. When I opened the bag and put the coins in, it made a nice jingling sound. The sound of hard-earned money sounds really good.

“I look forward to working with you”

“Yes. Do your best to become an adventurer.”

“yes!”

Stand up and bow deeply. When she looked up, the old woman smiled and shook her hand. I go back to the forest while waving my hand.

I’ll do my best to earn the remaining 10860 Ruta.
