I ate lunch at the usual restaurant, bought 100 ruta worth of bread for dinner, and returned to the village. He carries a bag of clothes and bread in his hands as he makes his way home, trying not to fall.
When I arrived at the village, I met a woman who always took care of me.
“Oh, Riru-chan. That’s a lot of luggage. What’s wrong with you?”
“I was able to work as a salesperson at a bakery for a while, so I bought the clothes I needed.”
“Oh, congratulations on that. It’s amazing that you can go to work wearing new clothes.”
“thank you”
Refugees being able to buy clothes and go to work in shops is probably one step beyond becoming refugees. The woman applauded with joy. She’s so embarrassed that I can’t see her face anymore.
“When you get a job at a store, you get to know the town better.Listen, even while you’re working, make sure to look for a new place to work.”
“yes”
“Maybe you can find a regular job. Just do your best.”
“I will do my best”
Hearing the encouraging words, I was filled with motivation. I see, working at a store in town is such a great thing. It would be nice if I had an encounter that would lead to my next job, but I can’t do anything about this on my own.
After speaking with the woman, I headed to a nearby warehouse. When I asked the warehouse guard for two nails and a hammer, she immediately gave them to me. It seems like a lie that in the beginning, it was difficult to even rent a sickle. Trust is important.
Then, when I got home and secretly looked inside, my parents were gone. If you want to work on it, now is the time. I went to the back of the house and put my things down. Then, drive two nails into the wall of the house, spaced apart, and tie a laundry line to the nails.
Hang a hanger on a taut laundry line and hang all your clothes on the hanger. Yeah, you’re ready now. I usually hang my clothes here, and when I wash them I can hang them here to dry.
Ah, but what if it rains? It would be a good idea to make a container at home to put the clothes in. Okay, let’s easily make a big basket out of ivy.
On my way home after returning the hammer, I went into the forest and gathered some ivy, which I wove into a large basket. Ready!

The next day, I come to the adventurer’s guild to accept the garbage collection quest. As usual, I received a quest at the reception desk and was waiting by the ticket when I saw Karoo.
“Riru, good morning.”
“Good morning. Karoo, I have something to report.”
“Hmm, what’s wrong?”
“Actually, I’m going to start working as a salesperson at a bakery for about six months starting tomorrow.”
“Oh, really!? That’s great, congratulations.”
When I reported this, Karoo looked surprised but congratulated me.
“I see, I won’t be able to accept the garbage collection quest for a while. That’s sad.”
“sorry”
“It’s okay, it’s just a complaint. Riru, please do your best in your new job. If a good job comes up, I’ll take it right away, so don’t worry about it.”
Garbage collection is a good job, but I’d rather work at a store. Maybe you’ll get a regular job, or maybe you’ll find someone else to work with.
But when I saw Karoo’s slightly sad face, my heart ached. I miss you too because you’ve been so good to me ever since we met.
“I’ve kept you waiting. I’m going to go pick up the trash.”
“Here, let’s go. I’ll listen to you more carefully later.”
“yes”
The person in charge came and interrupted the conversation. All I have to do now is finish this job. I changed my mind and left the guild.
◇
After collecting the garbage, I finished eating at the usual cafeteria with Karoo.
“I see. You studied your letters well and showed off your skills.”
I told you what happened yesterday. Karu then nods in admiration.
“I was also taught how to write at the orphanage, but I don’t remember it well. I’m going to study hard now and show my appeal to the guild members.”
“Karoo seems to be able to learn letters quickly.”
“When I have to do something, I’ll do it too. I’ll imitate the method Riru taught me, and I’ll also get a job related to the store.”
“Also, it seems like there are more jobs if you move up in rank, so I think you should aim for that at the same time.”
“Yeah, that’s right. Your rank will rise soon, so I’ll make sure to perfect your handwriting by then.”
Because I am a child, the work I can do is limited. In order to break out of that framework, you have to show what kind of abilities you have. So I showed my guild members what I could do and went out of my way to get a new job.
I thought there were jobs that even children could do if they had the skills, and that turned out to be the case. Right now, my rank is low and I don’t have many jobs to choose from, but if I work hard here, my rank will rise and the number of jobs I can choose from will increase.
If I could do it, so can Karoo. I’d like to think that I’ve been able to repay you a little bit with this. Karoo taught me a lot of things and helped me a lot. I hope I can find a good job.
“Riru is great. He thought about it all by himself, executed it, and got the job. I thought it was frustrating that he was going to let me go since I started the job first, but it just means that I worked so hard.”
“Karoo…”
“So, I’ll follow Riru’s example and try to think and put things into practice.Thank you, I think I can move forward thanks to Riru.”
Karoo spoke with a big smile. I’m very happy.
“Well, I would like to thank Karoo. He didn’t look down on me as a refugee and treated me normally, and how much he helped me… I am the one who is grateful.”
“Hehehe, you don’t have to worry about it. It’s because I wanted to act like an older sister. Besides, I don’t want you to be mean to Riru, who is less fortunate than me.”
Meeting Karoo was really helpful and saved me. She had just come out of the village and was afraid of being in the town, but they treated her like a normal person. Even though she was a refugee, she taught me the job without looking down on me. Not only did she tell me about delicious and affordable places to eat, but she also enjoyed eating with me.
We all owe it to Karoo.
“Thank you, Karoo. I love you.”
“Hehe, I love Riru too.”
With that, we both hugged each other. My heart is filled with warmth that warms my heart. Slowly pulling away, we both looked at each other and laughed.
“But I couldn’t shake my polite tone until the end.”
“T-this is… that…”
“Hehe, it’s like Riru, including things like that.”
It was a happy day, with both my stomach and my heart full.
