I only have one month left in my job as a salesperson at a bakery. She was so busy every day that time passed by in the blink of an eye.
Something has changed a bit recently. One day, when I went to the back of the store to take a lunch break, I saw a strange woman standing there.
“Hello”
“Um, hello…”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Retom’s wife.”
I met Retom’s wife for the first time. She looks delicate and does not look like she has given birth to a child. Is that why she fell ill after giving birth to a child?
“The food is ready, so I’ll leave it here.”
“Thank you. Are you feeling okay?”
“Well, thanks to Riru-chan working on my behalf, things have gotten much better.”
The smile on his face was natural and didn’t look like he was forcing himself. Well, thanks to me working, her wife was able to rest. He didn’t think that he was helping anyone by working, so he’s happy to know that he’s helping someone.
“Um… I’ll do my best for the rest of the month. So, please give your body enough rest until then.”
“Hehe, Riru-chan is kind too. Thank you, I’ll take your words and let you rest.”
I want her wife to get enough rest and come back to work in perfect health. I’m sure Retom-san is thinking the same thing.
After the greetings, the wife went up the stairs and returned to the living space. After seeing that off, I started eating the lunch that had been prepared for me.
Yeah, it’s delicious today too. I will also get a good rest and do my best at work in the afternoon.
◇
For the next month, Retom’s wife brought me lunch. Every day, when I bring it in, I talk a little and then go back. It seems like the story is getting longer as the day progresses.
I heard that she was not feeling well and had been confined to his room. I guess that’s why I was lonely because there was no one to talk to other than Retom-san? It was a good time because I enjoyed talking with you too.
Then, on my last day, Retom’s wife stood at the counter with the baby on her back.
“It’s been a while, so please tell me a lot, Riru-chan.”
I feel humbled to have to teach the husband’s wife. She carefully taught me how to do it without being rude. I’m sure it wasn’t my imagination that people started staring at me from behind when I was teaching.
When customers came, I showed them how to serve them. She taught them various ways of speaking and taught them variations on how to serve customers, and showed them how to bow properly and say goodbye.
“Ah, Riru-chan’s customer service is very polite. There’s a lot to learn from me.”
the wife said with a smile, “I’ll start copying you tomorrow,” which was kind of embarrassing.
When there were no customers, we talked about various things. The fact that I am a refugee and what kind of life I am living. the wife listened intently, was impressed, and her expressions changed all the time, making it fun to talk to her.
I’m sad that today is the end of such a peaceful day. I felt like I was finally able to become a resident of this world, but I felt like I was being thrown away again.
No, it’s no good because I was thinking like this. There was no need to worry about it this much, and everything was fine up until now. I can remember my daily life working at a bakery, and I’m okay now.
Finally, it was evening and there were only four loaves left – it was time to close.
As usual, I transferred the bread and wiped down the shelves. The last task is finally finished.
I relaxed my shoulders and took a deep breath. As soon as she is released from the heavy responsibility she has worked so hard for for six months, her heart is filled with loneliness.
“Riru-chan”
When I was called and turned around, Retom-san and his wife were standing side by side looking at me.
“Riru-chan came to help us a lot. Thank you so much for the past six months.”
“Thanks to you, the wife’s health has improved and she is now able to work at the store. Thank you for your hard work.”
“Oh, that’s not an exaggeration. I’m just grateful for accepting the request.”
“Hehe, that’s okay. It’s all thanks to Riru-chan that we were able to spend six months without incident.”
Their kind words touch my heart. I’m more grateful than you, but I don’t even expect to be thanked.
“This month’s salary, please take it.”
“Also, for the last bread, I left two pieces of cheese bread for this purpose. Be sure to eat our popular bread at the end.”
I received my last paycheck, I received my last bread. Apparently, she always left behind cheese bread that was always sold out. I wanted to try it at least once, so I’m really happy.
“Um, thank you very much for everything. Working here has allowed me to grow personally.”
“I see, I’m glad you said that.”
“In the end, we were able to work together in the store, and it was really fun. I would have liked to work together more if possible.”
“I’m the same way. I’m really disappointed that I didn’t work with you because I didn’t want to get in Riru’s way.”
I told them how I felt. The two of them accepted it with smiles and responded with happy words.
“This is the quest completion form. Be sure to submit it to the adventurer’s guild.”
“Yes, I understand”
I took the paper and took a little distance from them. He grabbed her hand tightly and bowed deeply.
“Thank you for letting me work here!”
“thank you to you too”
“Riru-chan, thank you from me too.”
My job as a bakery salesperson is now over. The fun and fulfilling days remain as warm memories in my heart. I wanted to work a little more, but I can’t say it’s a luxury.
Because I have another goal.
◇
I run down the main street dyed by the setting sun. The destination I headed straight for was the Adventurer’s Guild.
Once inside, you line up at the reception desk. Since there weren’t many people, it was my turn right away.
“Next person please.”
“This is the form for depositing money and completing the quest, please.”
When I handed the adventurer’s ID, small gold coins, and paper to the lady at the reception desk, she smiled and said, “Please wait a moment,” and turned around. I wait nervously.
After a while, the older sister turned around.
“First of all, please confirm your deposit.”
When the older sister holds her adventurer’s ID card over the appraisal crystal, the amount comes out: 1,220,000 ruta. She was relieved that it was the amount she had previously expected.
“Next, I would like to report on the completion of the quest. Thank you very much for taking on the F rank quest for half a year. Since you have been involved for a long time, it is now possible to increase your rank, and Riru-sama will be promoted to E rank. became”
Yay, rank up. This means that you can receive more quests.
“Would you like to take a look at the request now?”
“No, I’ll come back tomorrow, so I’ll ask you to show it to me then.”
“Understood. I’ll be waiting for you tomorrow. I’ll return your adventurer ID.”
I got my adventurer ID back, bowed, and left the adventurer’s guild.
I have to get back to the village before it gets dark. Walk quickly down the main street. However, I couldn’t control my excitement and ended up walking fast.
“Yay, E rank, E rank!”
I’m so happy and happy that I can’t stop smiling. I was able to improve my rank, save money, and grow mentally. I’m so happy to be moving towards my next goal.
I’m sad that the fun days are gone, but I can’t keep looking back. I finally have the strength to move forward, what if I can’t move forward? I finally have everything I need to go on an adventure outside.
“I’ll be ready to go on an adventure tomorrow!”
Although it’s still in the preparation stage, I’m still so happy that I’m running out. I’m looking forward to tomorrow!

Thanks for the translation. I have one thing to point out is that the MC keeps saying ‘my wife ‘ she should say ‘the owner’s wife or the baker’s wife ‘. It’s confusing as to who is speaking.
